Here’s a little bit of some 3D design and printing I’ve been dabbling with!

Gel Sachet Medicine Container

I was asked to come up with a solution for someone’s medication that comes in the form factor of small gel sachets (hormone gel for HRT treatment). I came up with the solution pictured, iterating a handful of times to nail down the function and feel of the latching and hinging system that’s robust and reduces strain on the parts, while also allowing for vibrant color combinations. It also features interchangeable faceplates, and I’m planning on releasing this for sale with an array of different colourway options (some early mockups below)

Weight Station

I’ve been working with an old-school photographer lately to produce a handful of bespoke tools for the craft. One of the tools he needed was a set of clean, ergonomic weights to keep down the corners of extremely fine GSM rice paper whilst brushing it with chemicals for developing photos.

I came up with the weight station - a dock that holds four ~200g weight blocks, design with a clean profile and smoothed edges to ensure there’s nothing that might catch on any fiber of the paper.

Various other tools have been created,

Modular Ergonomic Leatherworking Chisel Handle (WIP)

Currently I’m working on a commission for a swappable, ergonomic handle for small leatherworking chisels.

The design is based around a hollow shaft where the chisel boy is inserted, with a bulbous head that’s more comfortable in the hand and distributes pressure more evenly.

The chisel shafts are a ferrous metal - magnetic. So I will be embedding a neodymium magnet at the top of the shaft to hold the chisel in place whilst working - but still easily removable by deliberately pulling it out.

The interchangeable head shown here (bayonet style attachment in prototyping) means that this magnet can be swapped for different strengths if desired (some of these tiny magnets can exceed a pull force of 1kg!) as well as allowing for swapping with several different top styles for different taste and feel in the hand. In the current prototype the texture is included for grip when locking/unlocking the head.

Custom Car Drink Tray Insert

I was commissioned to design a custom insert for a car’s drink tray - the one that came with the vehicle would not fit a soft drink can.
